What's Cale up to these days

Man our little guy is continuing to grow and amaze us!
He is:
-starting to sing twinkle, twinkle little star
-still gets very jealous if mommy holds another baby or kid
-likes to sing la la la la from the Elmo's world song
-counts a little, but mostly says three when counting-it's so cute!
-loves quesadillas and still loves hummus
-is totally into grapes right now
-loves playing with his Disney "cars"-he now has 6 of them!
-is totally into playdoh and will get his little chairs out for his plastic table and put them at the table when he is ready to play
-loves to read-especially his Cars books, Go Dogs Go, and Don't let the Pigeon Drive the bus
-says all sorts of words now-not in full sentences but can say/repeat so much more now-new words include-Nemo, seahorse, playdoh, dilla (for quesadilla), grape, cars, green, go, red, stop
-He is getting more into the tantrum, he wants his way stage and so we are trying to offer him choices-you can do this, or you have to go in your room and cry for 1-2 minutes (I am going to talk with Jeff about starting the time out chair soon)
-He melts your heart with the looks that he gives sometimes
-He says "hold me" a lot
-he loves to run and chase the puppies all over the house
-he is getting more social in playing with other kids
-still loves to play outside and loves to dance (we are starting him in dance classes in a few weeks-I am so excited to see what he thinks)
-we're starting to read a kids Bible with him every night and that is pretty cool

He's just an amazing kid and we love him more and more, although I truly wish he would slow down in growing up just a little bit!

Clingy

So Cale has been a momma's boy for a while, but right now he is really a momma's boy and only wants me. I know kids go through stages, but man is this tough. There are times I love it, love holding him, snuggling with him and just being with him and there are other times where I honestly just need/want a break. I know Jeff loves spending time with him and I feel so bad that he only wants me most of the time! I am really hoping this is just a stage and that he gets through it quickly!

Big Cedar Lodge 2010

We love Big Cedar Lodge! We love the relaxing pool, lazy river, the trails, the views, and all the fun things there is to do there. We got a chance to go with the Koziateks this year and just got back on Friday. We had a good week of hanging out, going to the pull, and playing lots of games. Cale enjoyed himself although had a fever and was a little cranky the 1st few days, but other than that he did great. Here are some pictures from the trip.

Cale, Jeff, me, Diane, Ray, Andy, and Leslie

One of our favorite spots-floating on the lazy river!

The only time Cale actually liked the Lazy River-it only lasted for like 5 minutes

Andy took this shot from our balcony-beautiful

Cale walking with Grandma and Grandpa Koziatek

One of Cale's favorite things was to jump on Uncle Andy's bed

I love this shot of the 3 of us!

Summertime fun

Hard to believe it's already August. Tomorrow I start my new job in oncology! I am so excited and ready for a new challenge. Here's some more pictures from our summer:

Rice pit!

He's just cute, what can I say

Playing in the hose

Cale and Dad watching Cars-Cale is totally into Cars, Finding Nemo, and Noddy (a show on PBS) right now and will actually sit and watch for a while!

Greenridge Manor Reunion-what a fun day had by all! I loved this neighborhood growing up. We were so blessed to have not only neighbors but great friends and people that are like family! I still feel that way about them-the people in this neighborhood will always hold a special place in my heart!

90th Birthday

Last week Jeff's grandpa, and Diane Koziatek's dad celebrated his 90th birthday! Happy birthday Grandpa Faust! We love you.

The D word

Well, it's officially begun-"discipline" that is. We for a while have been giving Cale a little slap on the hand for throwing food at meals and a few other things discipline wise, but today was a first. I had to put Cale in time out. Let me just start by saying it is so hard to know how to handle situations in the right way. It started by Cale trying to climb from his little rocking chair onto the couch, which we allow, well he was having problems so he got mad. He has started this new thing-if he is stacking blocks and they fall, or if he can't get a lego piece together-he gets mad and starts throwing toys and crying. We are not quite sure exactly how to handle this. Well, he started throwing everything in site today when he couldn't climb onto the couch-books, toys, stuffed animals. We told him no and took the toys away, but that didn't stop him, he was in a full out fit and wasn't stopping for anything! Then he got mad and hit me. So he had his first 2 minute time out in his bed. And he screamed from the top of his lungs, but afterwards when I went in to get him he stopped and was fine and turned back into his most of the time cute, happy little self. I don't know if we did the right thing, I want to make sure to not always say the word no, and want to make sure he learns there are consequences to his choices and actions. Sometimes you just question how you did things. Well today it worked, who knows if it will next time. Hopefully this will not become a regular thing! God give us patience and guidance in loving Cale and showing him your ways and that there are consequences for the choices he makes. This is the part of parenting I don't like. I don't like disciplining, but I guess you can look at it another way-you are helping to teach your kids and give them the skills so that hopefully when they get older they will understand and think about the choices they make before they make them. It should be interesting!
